Army Wives & Card ...

Finally catching up on the show Army Wives. I am loving this season. One topic I wish they would explore is saying goodbye to one of your military friends. But, I am also afraid if they do that they might send away a great character. LOL.  Today I said goodbye to one of my great friends, Erin. Her husband got stationed in Alaska, so now she’s moving. I am sure this is a re-occurring event for many of us military wives. I have had to say goodbye to four great friends in the 6 years we have been in the Army. Most of them I had shared yearlong deployments with. I always think it will get easier to say goodbye, but it never does.

Before a friend leaves, I always try to make a card to send them on their way. Love how this card turned out. The create paper supplies fit Erin’s personality so perfectly.

Supplies: Create Paper (Cottage Collection) Misc (kraft, brown twine) K&CO (Greenhouse)

Speaking of Friends … one of my best friends (non-military) is getting married. She needed Dinner Rehearsal Invites ASAP and this is what I came up with. Her wedding is going to be very elegant with red, black, and white as her colors. Therefore, I tried to do something simple. Which was kinda hard since I really like to decorate cards!!!

Hope everyone is having a good summer; havent got a lot of blog comments lately, but I am assuming everyone is vacationing and spending family time !!! When I was gone it was amazing how much stuff I missed with all my favorite blogs ... guess it's time to turn in ... Night All.

Seriously …

Okay I know I said I was back last time and you did not see any posts … I promise I am defiantly back this time. My husband’s leave was almost up and we decided to take a quick trip down to Charleston, SC. I went there as a little girl with my parents, but did not appreciate the beauty until now. We went and toured the Boone Hall Plantation; the movies “North and South” and “The Notebook” were both filmed here. Also on our tour, I saw the set of what was sup post to be Afghanistan, where Army Wives was taping. Did not see any stars but was very neat to see the set. We then toured Fort Sumter and USS Yorktown Battleship, on an extremely hot 100-degree day. Other than it being soooo HOT, it was beautiful. I told my husband we need to move there after the army and buy a boat … He said winning the lotto might have to happen for that dream to be a possibility. I had a lot of trouble picking my favorite pics to show you, so here is a collage that will not take up the whole blog post of our trip …

I know shocking, it’s a LAYOUT! Worked on this last night, had a lot on my mind (that is a whole other blog post), so just kind of went with the flow. Also tried a new technique!! I did not have a liquid ink that you can get in a spray bottle, so kind of made my own. Had a small empty spray bottle that had body spray in it and put a little water and black acrylic paint. I was surprised it worked, I like it.
Supplies: My Big Ideas and me (8x8 scrapbook kit Deebee-Us) Making Memories (rub-ons & metal rim tags)
Studio Calico (hot air Balloons) Stampin’ Up (Kraft Cardstock) 3 Bugs (Discover) Misc (acrylic paint splatters, brads)

Back from Vacation ...

As some of you might know, I am from Orlando, FL. Since my husband was on leave, we decided to do a trip down there and see family. I cannot believe it has been a year since we have been down, things have really changed. I also forgot how HOT it is. LOL. Wanted to do a quick post before I dug into the piles of stuff to un-pack.

We had a great time in Orlando. No real big plans just rather went day by day and if we felt like doing something, we did. I did make reservations for my son to have breakfast with Mickey. We decided to skip the park (too HOT and way too many PEOPLE) and went to a Disney hotel for breakfast instead. It is great because the characters come to your table, no waiting in lines. My son’s face was priceless. Here are a few pics from our trip. I think I took about 200 pics. < That is more than I thought I took.

Rusty Pickle … gone but not forgotten ….

How old is this stuff? HA HA. I actually bought this Rusty Pickle Girlfriends collection back in 2006 at CK Convention … and I am just now using it. LOL. The point is though I finally used it. I was kind of bummed when Rusty Pickle went out of business back in February. I was always a fan of their distressed items. Nevertheless, I know many of us probably still have their great products ready to use.

It's been Awhile ....

Hoorah … I’m BAACCKK!!! We had a GREAT Memorial weekend. Hope you all did as well. My husband and I had the Military ball last week and my mother in-law came up to watch our son; then stayed for a couple days. So we had a really had a wonderful time. Besides the Ball, we went and explored Wilmington, NC a little. My husband and son enjoyed the “Battleship NC” immensely … along the way we went to an art festival near the area, and popped over to say hello to the beach. Overall, wonderful weekend!!! Instead of filling this blog post with millions of pics, I made a little collage from our weekend. Enjoy!!!

So my husband is on leave for 1 month … in ARMY LIFE … that is AMAZING. We have many plans this summer, so look forward to more pictures. My sons last day of school is tomorrow, here is some little cards I made up for Teacher Gifts. I thought they turned out cute.

I am hoping to get back on the scrapbook bandwagon this week or maybe in a little bit. We have had crazy storms here, so now might be a great time. I am almost to my 100th post … very cool. Oh and I noticed I had some new followers “Welcome and Hello”. I love all your wonderful comments so keep them coming, you guys are super.
