What a cold weekend ...

I have been cooped up in the house this whole time, starting to get a little stir crazy. LOL. I’m just grateful that our power did not go out during this ice storm. MY backyard is pretty much melted away but my front yard is still a snow covered BIG block of Ice. If I don’t get some sun by my door way, my garage will be new entry way. LOL.

Being from Florida the whole Ice Storm was a new thing for me. When I went outside to check the mail I was expecting to step in the fluffy snow … Then realized holy crap this is a block of ice. So I ice skated to the mail box (okay walked very slowly).

The last time my son was in snow he just turned 3 and I don’t think he quite remembers what it was. The whole day he looked out the window saying “Mama, milk”. I was like “No honey that’s Snow”. He was determind to tell me otherwise and was positive it was milk. Finally when the sleet stopped I took him out there … we walked VERY SLOWELY … lol … he goes to touch it and then he looks at me and says “Mama, what is that?. I then WON the conversation and said it is snow. We were out there a total of 3 minutes because it was just way too cold.

I did get a couple things done this weekend … I managed to go through one more cleaning threw my office got a bunch of kits together to sell in ETSY shop. I figured its better I sell them and get them out of my closet. Hopefully someone else will use them. You can check them out HERE. I also made a big life decision this weekend. It’s taken me a long while to figure out a right career path for myself … with being an army wife and a mom that’s been my full time job for a couple years and getting a career for myself just didn’t seem in reach. Really it was I just had to realize that if I want something I have to work for it. It won’t just come to me in a box LOL. So I decided to go to college for graphic design. From talking to the school I plan applying for, talking to a couple of my favorite bloggers with a similar career, and doing some homework … I discovered that art is my passion and it has been since I was little. I always said I would go to art school, better late than never. I now plan to GO FOR IT. I’m very excited. I know it is going to be a long road and it won’t be easy but I want this and with that said I know I can do it. Patty will be college bound by the fall!!!!

Ahhh Sunday …

Quick Post with some cute things. I’m on a roll with cleaning and I know if I sit down to long that will go right out the window. I have had a couple questions on 2Peas about this cute little project. They are extremely easy to make. When I saw these at Michael’s I thought what a cute little gift idea for my Etsy Shop.

I actually got these canvas and mini easels at 2 places. Michael’s Craft Store has a 2 pack which includes 2 canvas’s and 2 un-painted easels. Then AC Moore sells the canvas and easels separately. There easels are already stained and painted.

Another thing I have been experimenting with is putting my art work on cards. One of my big passions before scrapbooking was drawing and painting. My favorite mediums tend to be Pencil, Charcoal, and Watercolor. I actually scanned the drawing into adobe and then printed it on Bazzil Cardstock. I was surprised how well it printed. I was almost afraid to touch the frog re-print because it really looked like the original drawing.

Here are my original prints and then the cards.

Oh and couple more things …. Project Life is now available to order in case you have been wanting it. Also, the CHA is now going on as you read this. This is exciting because all week on company blogs, I have been seeing sneak peeks of new products. I have a LONG LIST of wants already!!! Hope the rest of your weekend is enjoyable!!!

School Binders ...

I’ve been neglecting my blog for a couple days, thought it was time for a new post. So my new project I'm currently working on is my Son's School Album. Yes, he is only in Pre-Kindergarten. But so far he has been in school for 2 years and I started getting behind. My goal is to keep up with this project. I’m so behind on my other albums I am DETERMIND to keep up with this one.

My inspiration for Ryan’s School Album actually came from Laura Vegas’s Blog. I am one of her frequent blog visitors and fans!! Almost a year ago in Feb. 2009 she posted a on her blog about her school binder albums using Becky Higgins school KOTM. You can see her post HERE.

Since it was 2 late to buy Becky’s cool Kit. I decided to go the other route and make my own. I used the same American Crafts binders as Laura, but in Fabric Red. Laura also talked about how her friend used some pocket pages from Joanns.I thought perfect. I purchased some Memorabilia Pocket 12x12 pages by Generations online threw Joann’s. I did this a long time ago, so I couldn’t find the exact ones I have. But I have seen similar kinds in the store. So don’t worry this project is still do-able.

I loved how Becky’s kit had writing on the pocket folders so I added my own writing. I put my pazzles to work and cut my titles out using Black Vinyl. When putting these big titles on the folders I treated them like I was putting a Vinyl Saying on a wall. I used transfer Tape to make sure it would be even, and a credit card to smooth out any bubbles.

The rest is pretty much up to you on how you want your school binders to look. I have my sons Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten almost finished. For Ryan’s class and school picture I decided to just put photo corners on them and put those in regular office sheet protectors, instead of making it a 12x12 page. I like the look of different sizes in my scrapbook at times.

Hopefully this helps give you some ideas on your child’s school album. Happy Creating !!!

Birthday Pics, Project Life, & More !!!

I am now officially the mother of a 4 year old. Over the weekend my son Ryan had his birthday. I have to say this is one of the best Birthday’s ever. I normally always throw a big party, but this year I made it a little bit more low key. Just a couple friends and there girls. Which Ryan just loves kids older than him. My son is still obsessed with the movie “Cars” and I happen to still have left over decorations from last year. I think he was more thrilled this year. LOL. My son had such a wonderful time. My friend’s husband happens to work at the Pope Air Force Base FD and Ryan got a full tour of the fire station and we all got to take a fire truck ride. Which I have to admit that was super fun. I was just so glad Ryan had such a great time. It’s crazy how fast he is growing. Here are a couple quick pics from his birthday.

So other than having a pretty good weekend, I have really been thinking about Project Life from Becky Higgins. Do you have it? If you do, let me know what you think about it. I am having such a hard time trying to figure out if I want the regular kit or the digital version. I really want to use it for my 2008 pictures. I am so behind on my scrapbooks and my 2008 pics I have not printed yet. So I thought PERFECT!!! But I would really like to hear what you’re planning on doing with your project life.

Just in case you are wondering what I am talking about you can find out all the info about project life HERE.

So I wouldn’t leave you hanging without some crafty. I don’t know if you remember my Paris Layout I made a couple weeks ago. Well like I said I am the queen of scraps and I had a bunch left over from that layout. I could not let great Basic Grey paper like that go to waste.

Wausau Paper (Royal Fiber Tuscan Sun & Sunflower) Bazzil (Grey & Black Cardstock)
Basic Grey Patterned paper (Ambrosia Marmalade & Marrakech Vanilla Chai).

Well I hope everyone is enjoying their extra day off. I will post more later this week. Oh and one quick note. I happen be to featured on  “Welcome to this Army Life Blog”. I am featured on there as Hooah Hottie of the week. I wouldn’t say I’m a hottie, but thanks LOL. I actually went to high school with the blog owner and we just recently started talking on facebook. Thanks Shannon. If you are in the service or new to the service she has a lot of website and army blog resources that are fun to read. You can check out the interview HERE and get to know more of the army wife side of me.

Going Card CrAzY ...

Last week I went card crazy. I figured I would finally post some. Hopefully you can get some card inspiration!!! When I’m feeling very creative, but don’t want to dig into starting a layout, I will use extra supplies for some cards. Great way to rid of your scraps!!!

Supplies: Stampin Up (wood stamp & twine) Martha Stewart (felt animal Stickers) QKS (tree die cut) DCWV ( recycled stack)

I have not really talked much about my shop on Etsy. I call my shop “Sweet Boutique” because when I started, I was selling a lot of ice cream and cupcake cards. Then I really started to branch out with the style of cards I made. I really love selling stuff on there. There are so many creative people on that site. I think mostly what the shop does is support my habit. LOL. Hopefully I can get these up for sale next week.

This weekend is my son's 4th Birthday, so I will getting ready for that. I hope everyone has a great weekend !!! Also all Giveaway Winners, I mailed your goodies out yesterday!!! ENJOY!!!

Inspiration ...

Wow what a crazy weekend …. Also very cold!!! What is up with this weather? So now that the Blog Giveaway is over, time for some new projects. Sometimes I get inspiration for scrapbook pages from random places besides magazines or scrapbook websites. Being an Army wife I was automatically drawn to the new upcoming film “Dear John”. I cannot resist a sappy love story with a soldier in it. Right when I saw the trailer I needed a tissue box, it also started making miss my hubby since he is currently deployed.

Here’s the trailer:

So I’m sure you’re wondering “What does this have to do with Scrapbooking”. Well I tend to get inspiration from Random things at times. When I saw this trailer it made me miss my husband and the song featured in the trailer reminded me just how I felt. The chorus of the song was “I’m miles from where you are …” and soon became the title for my page.

Supplies: Stampin Up (patterned paper) Ali Edwards (squre brush on photo) Martha Stewart (white patterned paper,
airmail stickers, & travel stickers) Making Memories (mini rub-ons & metal tag rims) Basic Gray (rub-ons)

I’m so happy with how this turned out. It’s sometimes nice to do pages on how you feel instead of based on chronological events.
